Procter & Gamble will set up operations in Panama
October 11, 2007
Hewlett-Packard and Caterpillar will not be the only ones to set up regional offices in Panama in
the near future because Procter and Gamble is coming as well, one of the planet's largest
multinational corporations that maintains a presence in over 160 countries and produces food,
drinks, medicines and a large array of personal beauty and hygiene products, such as Gillette,
Ariel, Tampax and Pringles.
"Carmen Gisela Vergara, the vice-minister of Foreign Commerce , confirmed their decision during
the ministry budgeting," said the deputy Elizabeth Hernandex, secretary of the Assembly's
Budgeting Commission. "With the multinational law that was recently approved, Panama is
becoming an attractive place for these corporations to et up their regional offices, and more are
coming, including shipping companies and call centers."
A source close to the president confirmed these facts, and mentioned that Procter and Gamble is
thinking of moving 270 of its executives to Panama, suggesting that their investment is
considerable. "Procter and Gamble is considering moving its regional offices in Venezuela and
Guatemala to Panama," the source confirmed.
