Nata, a district located in the Cocle province of Panama, will commemorate it’s 487th anniversary with a host of activities.

One of the main acts took place in the Santiago Apostol church, where a Te Deum was performed, in which authorities from the Nata district participated. Miss Nata, Marielexis Vega, participated as well, and is in charge of presiding over the festivities.

Penonome, capital city of the Cocle province, celebrated its 105th year since gaining its independence. The festivities began at 7 a.m. with a salute to the flag in Penonome’s City Hall.

Cocle governor Dario Fernandez gave a speech and Adalides Pinilla, judge from the second Superior Court of Justice, was the flag bearer and presided over the parade through the city’s main streets.

The Tedeum and prayer for the country took place in the Cathedral San Juan Bautista of Penonome, where the Bishop of the Diocese, Urias Ashley, called upon authorities of the province to seek alternatives to unresolved issues, such as waste disposal.

Afterwards, some 20 groups of students from all over Penonome paid homage to Panama by parading through the main streets of Penonome.

Manuel Cardenas, mayor of Penonome, was greatly impressed by the patriotic fever showed by the district’s schools, institutions, and civic groups that participated in the festivities of November 3rd.

Chiriqui, Republic of Panma - The route of the “fiestas patrias” parade, which will take place in David, Chiriqui on November 3rd and 4th, has been shortened 100 meters, ending just before Avenida F. Sur. Other than that change, the route will remain identical to years past, through Avenidas Obaldia and Domingo Diaz.

During the “Fiestas Patrias” meeting, the Ministry of Education’s representative, Irving Ramirez, indicated that in accordance with recommendations from security officials, Avenida F. Sur will remain open to traffic, being one of the main avenues into David.
